Native of south America such as Brazil, tropical perennial. One of the most beautiful house plants, showing off its rich black an dark purple leaves. Keep soil moist but not soggy, allow 2-3 inches to dry out before watering. Fertilize every 14 days with basic plant food diluted to ½ the regular strength. A shade plant great for kitchen and bathrooms. Closes its leaves at night and opens them again in the morning, soil thrives in high humidity, spray plant occasionally, really purifies the air.
